Ebb Carbon, a pionÂeerÂing water techÂnoÂlogy comÂpany, has partnered with the Saudi Water AuthorÂity (SWA), the govÂernÂment entity regÂuÂlatÂing the KingÂdom’s water secÂtor, to decarÂbonÂize desalÂinÂaÂtion at an unpreÂcedÂenÂted scale. With Saudi AraÂbia accountÂing for 22 perÂcent of global desalÂinÂaÂtion capaÂcity, the partÂnerÂship tarÂgets megaÂton-level carÂbon dioxÂide removal within the next decÂade while improvÂing freshÂwaÂter recovÂery and overÂall plant effiÂciency.
With Ebb’s system, SWA gains increased water output, locally produced chemicals, and cleaner discharged brine. Ebb gains access to infrastructure capable of removing up to 85 megatonnes of CO₂ annually across SWA’s existing assets.
And with 150+ million cubic meters of seawater processed daily across the global desalination industry, this represents one of the world’s largest opportunities for carbon removal.
